to the grounds of 900 South Pine Street. Led by the Holy Spirit,
surveyed the property and while doing so prayed not knowing that the current owners were looking for a buyer. Just as he was preparing to leave, a deacon exited the building and once again, God moved divinely.
January 6, 1991, 10:00 a.m., the Mighty Hand of God was shown. The city beheld the glory of God, as hundreds of cars drove a holy convoy from 2924 East Sixth Street to 900 South Pine Street, the current home of this dynamic and trailblazing ministry. More than 55 souls were added on that day. That first
Founders Day in the new location the theme was Rehoboth, God Has Made Room For Us. The move was historic and made the pages of the states largest newspaper.
On January 5, 1992, with the membership of more than 1,500, the celebration of the New Generation was being manifest. During the year, many nationally known recording artist, and evangelists were invited to bless the congregation and community.
On January 3, 1993, the celebration of the new generation continued with the Year of Change. April 3, 1993 God called the Trumpet in Zion Church of God in Christ into a new direction, to embrace the totality of God by becoming an interdenominational body. This was a significant milestone in the ministry for the man of God who had since been called into Apostleship and the title of Apostle Braggs. Under the pastorship of this gifted servant, God began to manifest the power of His Holy Spirit as never before.
January 4, 1994, Modeling the Glory
Gods people modeled the magnificent power of God. A mighty move of God came through the Mens Fellowship of Trumpet in Zion
Godly men, strong men, confident men standing shoulder to shoulder taking their rightful place in the body of Christ.
Believing that everyone should know the joy of God, the church began a venture to benefit the entire community. This event, which began on the churchs parking lot, evolved becoming larger and drawing larger and larger crowds became known as Praises in the Park (This celebration is now known as Awareness Fest).
In 1996, the membership of Trumpet in Zion Church of God in Christ sought to honor its leaders, Apostle Lawrence and First Lady Delois Braggs, along with LaTasha, LaKeisha and Lawrence Jr., with a home worthy of a royal family. That year, the church purchased a parsonage in one of the states most prestigious areas, Chenal Valley. The property was assessed at a value of $1.3 million.
In 1997, the membership celebrated The Next Level, in 1998, Investing in People and 1999 was The Year of Release.
The beginning of the new millennium was a great time for the ministry. As always, Trumpet in Zion was on the cutting edge, and Club Resurrection, the citys first Christian Light Club celebrated its one year anniversary on the dawning of the new millennium.
In 2000, Trumpet in Zion Church of God in Christ again made history. The churchs school Destiny School of Outreach had its first graduating class. The graduation was a day of great celebration and its influence is still being felt today. The lives of the graduates, students, administrators and instructors were forever impacted. Our own Lawrence Elliot Braggs, Jr. was a member of this historic graduating class.
Apostle Braggs has always inspired the people of God to be their very best. As a result, the members have ventured out into new areas, including entrepreneurship and education.
Our own First Lady and President Delois Braggs began her own ministry/business, Celebrating Life, through which she has taught women the importance of self-confidence and ministering to ones own needs through pampering and self-actualization
walking into the you that God intended. LaTasha and LaKeisha are two of the many members who have also become business owners. Many adult members of the ministry have returned to college and have successfully earned associates, bachelors and masters degrees. And the next generation has just begun to follow in their footsteps.
In 2001, the church began a transition. Apostle Braggs began to reveal the oneness of God and the joint inheritance with Christ that the people of God have been granted. The body became of aware of the God that lives within each of them as individuals. The power and consciousness of the body evolved and Trumpet in Zion International Interdenominational Ministries became the Awareness Center International. Under the ACI umbrella, many men of God have been called into apostleship and God continues to minister with clarity through the Chief Apostle Braggs the principles of communion, autonomy and self-awareness.
In any great ministry, the youth are key to the future. And the youth of Trumpet in Zion Church of God in Christ and the Awareness Center International have certainly been cutting edge. The teens, first as Apostles Production, and now as the Awareness Project, continue to minister in song, dance and poetry. The Awareness Center Internationals Childrens Ministry has also been a source of inspiration, an example of dedication and a blessing to the body always arising and exceeding expectation. Each year, the Childrens Church sponsors community outreach projects, such as the March of Dimes Walk America; sponsors summer vacation trips, holiday giveaways, academic achievement awards and a sponsorship appreciation banquet. We look forward to this next generation of aware people.
Music is, of course, a vital part of ministry, and the Awareness Center International Music Department provides the heart beat of the ministry. The Awareness Center Choir and Musicians have been uniquely ordained by God to bring deliverance and joy through original lyrics and songs, songs based on the Word of God that often have been written moments after the Man of God has delivered them.
It was after this name and mentality change that Praises in the Park became Awareness Fest. With this name change, the festival began to embrace members of the secular music community as well. And in 2004, the Awareness Center International sponsored the first ever Arkansas Kids Idol; the winner of this contest was awarded $1,000 as well as a prize package that included a personal etiquette course from a nationally-known modeling agency.
Each year, this life-giving and life-changing ministry has celebrated the upcoming move of God through inspiring and God-given themes such as Modeling the Glory, Doing Business in Great Waters, and Are You Aware? This year is, of course, no exception. Our theme for the 2006 Founders Day Celebration is The Year of Glory
For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us
Romans 8:18
Each year, the body of Trumpet in Zion/Awareness Center International has blessed the man and family of God by acknowledging the day of the Apostles birth. For many years, the celebration culminated with a banquet. In 2000, the birthday celebration included a Roast and Toast at the Statehouse Convention Center. Each year, the celebration includes verbal tributes to the family and we look forward to each year
it will always be bigger and better.
As we enter the sixth year of the new millennium, we look forward to what God is going to do. The ministry continues to change each year. Our immediate plans include total renovation of the sanctuary and replacement of the marquee which will help complete the remodeling of the current building which began with the lower level.
We invite you to join us at the
Awareness Center International as God is going to manifest Himself in our lives as never before
your life, your mentality, your view of God, indeed you, will never be the same.
